No Passport? No Problem.
If you’ve got some time off and a little money to spend, but you’ve been dragging your feet on getting your passport, don’t worry — a passport isn’t the only way to see this big, beautiful world. There are plenty of amazing destinations you can explore without leaving U.S. territory. From hiking and history to shopping, stunning beaches, and incredible wildlife both on land and under the sea — adventure is closer than you think!
Here are a few “no passport, no problem” destinations worth adding to your list:
🇻🇮 U.S. Virgin Islands – St. Thomas, St. John & St. Croix
Each island offers gorgeous beaches, soft sand, and unforgettable views — but each has its own personality:
- St. Croix is famous for its incredible diving spots.
- St. Thomas is buzzing with shopping, dining, and nightlife.
- St. John is quieter, more laid-back, and known for its lush greenery and natural beauty.
🌺 Hawaii
The Hawaiian Islands are paradise on earth. Whether you’re hiking volcanic trails, surfing world-class waves, or indulging in poke bowls, plate lunches, and shave ice, Hawaii delivers. The Hawaiian people’s connection to the land and their culture shines through everywhere you go.
🇵🇷 Puerto Rico
Home of the piña colada, Puerto Rico has it all — tropical beaches, thick rainforests with waterfalls, and history around every cobblestone in Old San Juan, where colorful streets lead you to the massive Fort Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
When I visited, our hiking plans got rained out, so we hopped in an Uber to explore a local market. We ended up splashing through puddles so deep they reached halfway up the car doors — and it turned into one of the most memorable adventures of the trip!
🇬🇺 Guam
Though technically an international flight might require a passport depending on your route, Guam is a U.S. territory with rich history, beautiful beaches, and plenty of island charm. It’s an often-overlooked gem for those craving adventure far from the mainland.
✨ So, if you’re craving an exotic escape but don’t have a passport yet, keep these spots in mind. Your next adventure might be closer than you think — and just as unforgettable!
