Jamaican me Explore
Exploring in Jamaica can be a little tricky. The island is often on various travel advisory lists for different reasons, so I always make safety a top priority. Afterall Saftey is Sexy! I never explore solo—I stick with a group, stay aware of my surroundings, and make sure someone always knows where I am. That said, I’ve never felt unsafe during any of my trips, and I’ve had the chance to experience some truly incredible excursions. These are 5 spots I have wandered through while visiting the island.
Rose Hall Haunted Tour
My sister and I love a good story, and if it’s a little spooky, all the better. Rose Hall claims to be one of the most haunted houses in the world, and this tour didn’t disappoint! The guide was incredibly passionate, bringing the history of the building—and the infamous White Witch—to life with vivid detail and dramatic flair. The atmosphere was eerie, the storytelling compelling, and we were completely captivated from start to finish. Whether you’re a skeptic or a believer, it’s a thrilling experience that’s well worth it!
Margaritaville & Rick’s Café – A Full Day of Island Vibes (I have been twice)
Whether you’re coming from a Montego Bay resort or arriving by cruise ship, a day trip to Margaritaville and Rick’s Café is the perfect way to soak in Jamaica’s relaxed island spirit. As a longtime Jimmy Buffett fan, this was totally my kind of vibe—laid-back atmosphere, delicious food, a gorgeous beach, reggae rhythms, and Jimmy playing in the background. It was the perfect way to unwind.
Later, we headed to Rick’s Café for a drink and the famous sunset. The cliff divers are definitely a show, but be aware—they do ask for tips to dive, and you should keep an eye on the climbers scrambling up the cliffs. Honestly, I would have been just as happy with just the drinks and sunset, skipping the diving altogether. Still, it was a great way to cap off a relaxing, sun-filled day.

Mystic Mountain
The ski lift ride was the highlight of this outing—offering breathtaking views and a peaceful moment for some quality family time. At the top, we enjoyed a relaxed meal at the restaurant while soaking in the view. We skipped the bobsled ride, but it looked fun for thrill-seekers. Just note: the infinity pool is quite small, more for a quick dip than lounging.

Appelton Rum, YS Falls & Black River Safari
This full-day tour was perfect for exploring more of Jamaica’s natural beauty. The Black River Safari cruise was relaxing and informative—we even spotted crocodiles! YS Falls may not be as famous as Dunn’s River Falls, but it’s stunning, less crowded, and feels more natural. The Appleton Rum Estate offered a great tasting experience and a peek into the Jamaican rum-making process.
Seven Mile Beach & Jerk Chicken Hunt
Seven Mile Beach is paradise. It’s the longest stretch of sand I’ve ever walked, with clear, calm waters so crystal you can see your feet even when chest-deep. And no trip to Jamaica is complete without some authentic jerk chicken. If your resort doesn’t serve the real deal, go out and find it—we did, and it was so worth it. Fresh, juicy, spicy, and full of flavor. Don’t miss out!
